Great news! Several parks have been added to the list of those available for group reservations. See detailed information on picnic sites available this season at our new page on Picnicking in Denver’s Mountain Parks.

If you still have questions, contact info is available at the link above.

We are also working on adding photo galleries for picnic sites so you can check them out from home.

Newton Park Shelters

Newton Park has three reservation sites. In order from Highway 285 south on Foxton Road, they are Newton Juvenile, Newton Commissioner, and Newton Stromberg. Juvenile and Commissioner are similar open shelters shaped in an arc; they accommodate 175 and 200 people respectively. The roof of Stromberg shelter is more elaborate, and its capacity is 300 people.

The gallery below contains photos of all three sites and their shelters. Each site has softball field, volleyball pits, horseshoe pits, toilets, picnic tables, electricity, grills, and ample parking. Commissioner and Stromberg have water available on-site. Firewood is not available and must be brought in.

Contact the Permit Office at 720.913.0700 or email park.permits@denvergov.org for more information and to make reservations.
